A1 Cash for Cars is a licensed motor dealer with a yard at 60 Bowhill Rd, Willawong, on Brisbane’s southside next door to the City of Logan. We assess and buy unwanted, damaged, unregistered, scrap and non-running cars, utes, vans and 4WDs across Greater Brisbane, including Logan suburbs.
Searching for cash for cars Logan usually means you have a car sitting in a driveway, carport, unit car park or on the street in Logan City and you want a licensed buyer to quote, buy and collect it. This guide covers what is Logan-specific: Logan City Council rules on unregistered cars parked on roads, collection from unit complexes and acreage blocks, Logan Motorway tolls through Linkt, and the Queensland rego, safety certificate and towing rules that apply once you sell.
Key takeaways
- Unregistered cars should not sit on Logan roads. Logan City Council says it is an offence to abandon a vehicle on a road or public place, or to park an unregistered vehicle on a road, and unclaimed vehicles may be impounded. (Logan City Council)
- No safety certificate when you sell to a licensed dealer. Vehicles traded to licensed motor dealers, or already unregistered, do not need one. (Queensland Government)
- Logan Motorway tolls stay your problem until rego leaves your name. Queensland uses free-flow tolling through Linkt, and you remain liable for tolls and fines while the car is registered to you. (TMR, Queensland Government)
- A tow truck can move an unregistered car without a UVP. TMR confirms this under section 11 of the Vehicle Registration Regulation 2021. (TMR)
- Access decides the booking. Tell us whether the car is in a unit complex, behind a gate on acreage or on a narrow street so collection can be planned honestly.
What does cash for cars Logan actually involve?
Cash for cars Logan means a licensed buyer assesses your vehicle from the details you give, makes an offer, and, if you accept and the car can be reached safely, completes dealer paperwork, pays you as agreed and takes the car. You then cancel or transfer registration and remove any Linkt toll tag.
The basic steps are the same as anywhere in South East Queensland, and we cover them in detail in how cash for cars works in Brisbane. What changes in Logan is mostly where the car is and what state it is in:
- Where it is parked — house driveway, carport, body-corporate car park, acreage paddock or council road.
- Whether it is registered — Logan has specific council rules about unregistered cars on roads.
- How it will be moved — driven, towed or loaded onto a tilt-tray.
- What is left in your name — rego, plates and Linkt toll accounts linked to Logan Motorway or Gateway Motorway travel.
Queensland’s own advice is that the easiest way to sell a vehicle is to a licensed motor dealer (Queensland Government). That is the path this guide describes.
Which Logan suburbs can A1 Cash for Cars collect from?
A1 Cash for Cars can often collect from Logan City suburbs such as Logan Central, Springwood, Slacks Creek, Woodridge, Kingston, Browns Plains, Marsden, Loganholme, Shailer Park and Beenleigh, and from the Jimboomba area, after an accepted offer. Every booking still depends on the vehicle, safe truck access and the day’s schedule from Willawong.
Logan is a large city with very different property types, and access matters more than the postcode. These are the situations we see most often:
| Logan setting | Example suburbs | What to tell us when you ask for a quote |
|---|---|---|
| Suburban house with driveway or carport | Springwood, Shailer Park, Kingston, Marsden | Whether the car is behind another vehicle, under a low carport or on a steep driveway |
| Townhouse or unit complex | Logan Central, Woodridge, Slacks Creek, Loganholme | Visitor parking, gate or intercom access, height limits and whether the body corporate needs notice |
| Acreage or semi-rural block | Jimboomba area and southern Logan | Length and surface of the driveway, gates, soft ground after rain and exactly where the car sits |
| Busy road frontage | Properties near major arterial roads | Whether a truck can stop safely off the road, or whether the car can be moved to a side street or driveway first |
| Car currently on a council road | Any suburb | Whether it is registered — see the next section |
Give us your exact suburb, street access notes and whether the car starts, rolls or has flat tyres. We do not publish blanket collection fees or promise every address in this guide; call 0400 119 641 or request a quote and we will tell you honestly whether pickup is practical. For general pickup logistics, see free car removal Brisbane.
Can you leave an unregistered car parked on a Logan street?
No. Logan City Council says it is an offence to abandon a vehicle on a road or in a public place, or to park an unregistered vehicle on a road. The Queensland Government also advises moving a vehicle onto private property once its registration expires, to avoid an infringement and possible council removal.
Logan City Council’s abandoned vehicles page states that these offences sit under its Local Law No. 10 (Public Health) 1999. When a vehicle is reported, council investigates, tries to locate the owner and asks them to remove it. If the owner does not, they may be fined and the vehicle impounded. If the owner is unknown, a notice is placed on the vehicle confirming its removal within a set timeframe, and a vehicle left somewhere risky or dangerous may be removed immediately (Logan City Council).
The Queensland Government’s reporting page says it is an offence to leave a vehicle on the road or footpath once its registration has expired, and recommends moving it onto private property (Queensland Government).
What this means if you own the car:
- If rego has lapsed, get the car off the road — onto your driveway or other private property where you have permission — while you arrange a sale.
- Do not drive it there on the road unless it is lawful to do so. An unregistered vehicle generally needs an unregistered vehicle permit (UVP) to be moved on a road, unless an exception applies (Queensland Government).
- If it cannot be moved, tell us where it is when you ask for a quote so we can say whether a tow-truck pickup is practical.
If you have found someone else’s dumped car, that is a council matter, not a sale. Logan City Council takes abandoned vehicle reports online, by email at council@logan.qld.gov.au or on 07 3412 3412, and its Rapid Response Taskforce handles burnt-out and dumped vehicles (Logan City Council). Our guide to abandoned car removal in QLD explains the difference.
What if the car is in a Logan unit complex or shopping centre car park?
If your own car is in a unit complex or other private car park, collection depends on access: gate codes, visitor bays, height limits and any body-corporate rules. If someone else’s car has been dumped on private property such as a shopping centre or unit complex, Logan City Council says the property owner must organise its removal.
For your own car in a shared car park, plan ahead:
- Check the rules. Some complexes restrict trucks, tow vehicles or work in common areas without notice to the body corporate or building manager.
- Measure clearance. Basement and undercover car parks often have height bars that a tilt-tray cannot pass. If the car rolls, it may need to be pushed to an open-air spot first.
- Arrange gate access. A wasted trip because nobody can open the gate slows everything down.
- Have the keys ready. Missing keys can make moving a car out of a tight bay much harder; see selling a car without keys in QLD.
For a vehicle that is not yours, council’s position is clear: when a vehicle is abandoned on private property, for example shopping centres, business car parks and unit complexes, the owner of the property needs to organise removal (Logan City Council). A buyer like A1 can only purchase a vehicle from someone who can prove they own it or are authorised to sell it.
Do you need a safety certificate to sell a car in Logan to a dealer?
No. Queensland does not require a safety certificate when a vehicle is traded to a licensed motor dealer, or when the vehicle is already unregistered. If you sell a registered car privately in Logan instead, you must obtain and hand over a current safety certificate, and you can be fined over $700 if you do not.
The Queensland Government’s safety certificates page states that vehicles that are unregistered or are traded to, or between, licensed motor dealers do not need a safety certificate. It also says you must still obtain one before disposing of a registered vehicle other than to a dealer (Queensland Government). The same page lists the regulated safety certificate fee for motor vehicles up to 4,500kg GVM as $102.70 as at 1 July 2026, before any repairs needed to pass.
| Selling path | Safety certificate needed? |
|---|---|
| To A1 Cash for Cars (licensed motor dealer) | No |
| Private sale of a registered car | Yes, current certificate given to the buyer |
| Private sale of an unregistered car | No inspection needed, but moving it may need a UVP |
A1 Cash for Cars is a licensed motor dealer, so sellers to A1 do not need a safety certificate. For the full rules, see our safety certificate guide for selling a car in QLD.
What happens with Logan Motorway tolls and Linkt after you sell?
Logan Motorway and Gateway Motorway are Queensland toll roads with free-flow electronic tolling, usually paid through a Linkt account or another Australian toll provider. After you sell, remove any toll tag and update your Linkt account, then make sure registration leaves your name, because you remain liable for tolls and fines while the car is registered to you.
Many Logan drivers use the Logan Motorway or the Gateway Motorway regularly, so a toll tag or a licence-plate-linked Linkt account is common. TMR explains that Queensland toll roads have no toll booths, that motorists must arrange toll payments within 3 days of travel through a toll payment provider, and that the Gateway and Logan motorways are state toll roads operated by Transurban Queensland (TMR). Linkt lists Logan Motorway among the Queensland roads its accounts cover (Linkt).
After-sale checklist for Logan sellers:
- Take the toll tag out of the car before pickup, and remove the vehicle and plate from your Linkt account. Queensland’s selling page specifically reminds sellers to do this (Queensland Government).
- Cancel or transfer registration. To cancel, Queensland requires a cancellation form (F3517) and generally the surrender of standard number plates, unless you are keeping personalised plates or an exception applies (Queensland Government).
- Ask about a refund. Cancelling a current registration may produce a refund of the unused registration and CTP premium, less a cancellation fee.
- Stop any rego direct debit so a payment is not taken after the sale.
- Keep your sale paperwork in case a toll or fine notice arrives later.

Can you sell a non-running, unregistered or written-off car in Logan?
Often, yes. Non-running and unregistered cars are usually collected by tow truck or tilt-tray, and TMR says a tow truck can tow an unregistered vehicle without an unregistered vehicle permit. A1 can often collect written-off cars too, subject to ownership, insurer status and safe access to the vehicle.
How each situation usually works:
| Vehicle situation | How it is usually moved | Key rule |
|---|---|---|
| Registered and drivable | Tow, tilt-tray or other arranged method | Rego must still be cancelled or transferred afterwards |
| Unregistered | Tow truck | No UVP needed when a tow truck tows it under section 11 of the Vehicle Registration Regulation 2021 (TMR) |
| Non-running or flat tyres | Tilt-tray or winch | Tell us if it rolls, steers and has brakes |
| Written-off | Transported, not driven | A UVP cannot be issued to move a written-off vehicle (Queensland Government) |
| Finance still owing | Depends on lender payout | Clear title must be sorted before payment |
If an insurer has assessed a write-off, check with them first: Queensland notes the insurer may take ownership of the registration as part of the claim (Queensland Government). See written-off cars and insurance total loss in QLD, selling an unregistered car in QLD and selling a car with finance owing. We do not quote blanket dollar amounts; condition, demand and location all affect any offer.
What should Logan sellers prepare before a quote and pickup?
Prepare accurate vehicle details for the quote, then have photo ID, proof you can sell the car, keys if available and clear truck access ready for pickup. Disclose finance, write-off or insurer status upfront, remove personal items and your Linkt tag, and make sure the person who can sign is there.
| Prepare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Year, make, model, kilometres and honest condition | A surprise on the day can change the offer |
| Exact Logan suburb and access notes | Unit gates, carports, acreage driveways and busy frontages affect the truck |
| Photo ID matching the seller | Licensed dealers record the seller’s identity |
| Registration details or proof of authority to sell | Confirms you are the registered operator or authorised |
| Keys, remotes and spares | Makes loading easier; say so if keys are missing |
| Finance and PPSR status | Clear title means the car is free from unpaid debt |
| Write-off or insurer status | Changes how the car can be moved and who holds the registration |
| Toll tag and belongings removed | Glovebox, boot, door pockets, under seats and the windscreen tag |
The Queensland Government describes clear title as being free from unpaid debt, and says a car with money owing to a lender does not have clear title (Queensland Government). Licensed dealers check the PPSR for registered security interests. Our QLD car selling paperwork checklist has the full list.
How do you check a Logan cash-for-cars buyer is legitimate?
Check that the business holds a Queensland motor dealer licence on the Office of Fair Trading licensing register, that it records your ID and gives you sale paperwork, and that payment terms are clear before the car leaves. Be wary of anyone who offers cash with no paperwork or tells you to sort rego out later.
Quick checks before you hand over keys:
- Licence. Search the business name on the Office of Fair Trading licensing register.
- Paperwork. A licensed dealer records seller identity and vehicle details; keep your copy.
- Payment. Know how and when you will be paid, and get a receipt.
- What the offer depends on. Ask what would change the figure if the car differs from your description.
- Red flags. No business name, no licence details, pressure to skip ID checks, or a request to leave rego in your name.
For common traps, see avoiding scams when selling a car in QLD.
How does selling to A1 Cash for Cars work from Logan?
Selling to A1 from Logan starts with a quote based on year, model, kilometres, condition, rego status and suburb. If you accept and pickup is practical, we agree a time, check your ID and ownership, complete the paperwork, pay as agreed and take the car. You then finalise rego, plates and Linkt.
What to expect:
- Quote. Call 0400 119 641 or request a quote with honest details, your Logan suburb and access notes.
- Booking. If we accept the car and can reach it safely, we agree a time. Collection depends on the vehicle, location and access; we do not quote blanket fees or guarantee every address in this guide.
- On the day. Photo ID, ownership check, seller paperwork, payment as agreed and loading of the vehicle.
- Afterwards. You cancel or transfer registration, deal with plates under TMR rules and remove the car from your Linkt account.

Does A1 Cash for Cars buy cars in Logan?
Yes. A1 Cash for Cars buys cars across Greater Brisbane, including Logan suburbs such as Springwood, Slacks Creek, Woodridge, Kingston, Browns Plains, Marsden, Loganholme, Shailer Park and Beenleigh. Pickup depends on an accepted offer and safe access to the vehicle.
Can I keep my unregistered car parked on the street in Logan until it sells?
No. Logan City Council says it is an offence to park an unregistered vehicle on a road. Move it onto private property where you have permission. A tow truck can collect an unregistered car without an unregistered vehicle permit.
Do I need a safety certificate to sell my car to A1 in Logan?
No. Vehicles traded to a licensed motor dealer do not need a safety certificate, and neither do unregistered vehicles. A private sale of a registered car still requires a current safety certificate.
What should I do about my Linkt account after selling?
Remove the toll tag from the car and remove the vehicle from your Linkt account. Then cancel or transfer registration, because you remain liable for tolls and fines while the car is registered in your name.
Can you collect from a unit complex in Woodridge or Logan Central?
Often, if a truck can get in and load safely. Tell us about gate access, visitor parking, height limits and any body-corporate rules when you ask for a quote, and make sure someone can let the truck in.
What should I do about a dumped car that isn’t mine?
Report it to Logan City Council online, by email at council@logan.qld.gov.au or on 07 3412 3412. If it is on private property such as a shopping centre or unit complex, the property owner needs to organise removal. A buyer cannot purchase a car from someone who doesn’t own it.
Can I sell a written-off car in Logan?
Often, yes. A written-off vehicle cannot be moved under an unregistered vehicle permit, so it is transported, usually by tow truck. A1 can often collect written-off cars subject to ownership, insurer status and safe access.
How do I check that a cash-for-cars buyer is licensed?
Search the business on the Office of Fair Trading licensing register before you hand over the keys, and make sure you receive sale paperwork.
